Usual Adult Dose for
Labor Augmentation Initial dose: 0.5 to 1 milliunits/minute via IV infusion
Usual Adult Dose for Abortion 10 units in 500 ml IV infusion, odjust rate to assist uterus in contraction

Indications
- Used to begin or improve contractions during labor.
- To control postpartum bleeding and haemorrhage.
- Postoperative contraction of the uterus following
- Cesarean section and control of uterine hemorrhage.
- Postpartum evacuation of uterine debris.
- To accelerate abortion especially in third trimester used along with prostaglandins.
